Laura Swenson, an American author, puts it best when she says, “For some life lasts a short while, but the memories it holds lasts forever.” For some reason I have never had a clear vision of what happened throughout my childhood. There is one exact memory that I do remember. I remember the first time I ever got a bad grade.
The first bad grade I have ever got was in kindergarten. Now I know you are probably thinking, “How in the world could you get a bad grade in kindergarten, it is the easiest grade ever.” I know this may seem a little silly to you, but the first bad grade I ever got, dealt with scissors. The assignment was to cut on a small dotted line, but who expects a little five year old to be able to cut a straight line. Apparently my teacher, Mrs. Kelly, did because when I got the paper back I had got half of the points taken away because I couldn’t cut straight. This wasn’t a big deal for me at that exact moment. The problem was that not being able to cut straight lines haunted me throughout my Minnie Cline experience. Even though this was a little problem, it taught me to never give up and to have the motivation to keep trying. I have always kept trying on anything that I put my mind to, and I am proud to say that I can finally cut straight lines. Not only has it helped me to learn to keep motivated to not only finish what I start, but to finish it to the best of my ability. Now in everything I do, I do it to the best of my ability. I know sometimes I get tired and don’t feel like doing everything, but I always remind myself that how much I put out, is how much I will get in return. This is why I always try my hardest on any of my assignments because I know if I put the effort in, then I will get around the grade I was wanted. This has done a lot for me throughout all of my school years. I have always got A’s or A-‘s. This has been great for me because I know when I grow up I want to go to a good college, and I know it takes hard work, a good work ethic, and a lot of study time to get good grades. It has really paid off this year because I have all A’s or A-‘s, and I have a GPA of 4.32. Not only has it helped me pay off in grade wise, but it has helped my class ranking a lot. I found out just last week that I am ranked #1 in my class, which is a big thing in my family since I have an older brother who did really well in high school. (I have two brothers and a sister, but let’s just say the other two aren’t the brightest bulbs in the tanning bed if you know what I mean, but that’s a blog for another time.)
This memory has kept my educational career at its highest, and I hope it will for as long as I live. I have learned a lot from this memory, and I hope to pursue my dream of excelling greatly in my educational career. Let’s just say that that one bad cut changed my life remarkably.
Congrats on 1st in the class Abbs. You deserve it! Funny blog! :)
